Mogadishu, Somalia, in 1993 during the height of the civil war following the Battle of Mogadishu. Devastated urban streets with heavily damaged and shell-scarred buildings, burned-out vehicles, makeshift street barricades made from oil drums, concrete debris, and twisted metal. Fires smolder along the roadside, blackened ground covered in ash, scattered garbage blowing through the streets, piles of rubble, discarded plastic, worn tires, and rusted oil barrels. Smoke hangs in the air, creating a hazy, tense atmosphere.
