Kara Mustafa Pasha born around 1634 - December 25, 1683 was the Ottoman Grand Vizier from 1676 to 1683. After unsuccessfully waging war against Russia from 1676-81, in 1683 he launched an offensive against Austria in an attempt to expand the Ottoman Empire after more than 150 years of war.
