Hitlers Wolf's Lair

Wolf's Lair (Führerhauptquartier Wolfsschanze) was the code name used by the Germans for one of Adolf Hitler's major military headquarters during World War II. The facility is located in the former East Prussia, now eight kilometers east of Kętrzyn (German: Rastenburg) in Poland. Hitler spent 800 days in this headquarters, which thus became one of the most important command centers of the Third Reich. On July 20, 1944, German officers attempted a failed assassination attempt on Adolf Hitler in Wolf's Lair. Hitler survived and considered it a sign of providence. The facility was blown up in January 1945, as Soviet forces approached East Prussia. It is now a Polish open-air museum.
