Anzio - Old stone wall with majestic Pinje-tree

The Allies—primarily American and British forces—carried out the landing at Anzio on January 22, 1944. The operation was codenamed Operation Shingle. A signpost reading “Naples, Anzio and Cassino” points to the historical sites where fierce fighting took place in 1944. Faded Mussolini posters from before 1944 can still be found in Italy, especially on older buildings where the propaganda paint was never removed.
